Hi , what build regs ,rules etc are people building to ? my first (and last!) race was at cadwell park i built my bike from an old bike frame , i have since seen scratch built bikes , i thought you had to start with a BMX frame is there a common used rule book ?

Bigba - Recommends to build to IGSA 2011 rules as this seems to be a workable solution. It also keeps everyone on a level playing field worldwide. These can be obtained in the Gravitybike HQ website. Building from a BMX rule I think was a Cadwell thing when they started Gravitybike racing,I would have to check with Graham Thompson on that one. Of course it is a good starting point for anyone wanting to start gravity Bike racing but it is not the only way...

All my bikes are built to IGSA 2011 regs and you certainly don't have to use a bmx frame. The main bits are max length, max weight and fairing size. You can just about do what you want from what you want. Are you putting another together Woody ? Would be good to see you on a bike again.

I m hoping to pick a bmx tomorrow, disc brakes so thats nice. Then the work can begin. Also need to start thinking about a cart for Charlies do up in Scotland. This potential event has really changed my thinking about what sort of cart I am going to build. I really like the idea of multi surface , not everything is going to be down to aerodynamics and high level technical stuff, there will have to be compromises. Ill let you know how I get on with the bike . I m not planning anything radical yet, just the usual, probably flip the frame if its suitable and then mess about with my riding position and a wee fairing. I rode the new road bike down hill the other day... strewth it was fast, a real gravity rush and it picked up speed real fast, if I can get the same performance from the BMX its going to be a fun season.
